On Saturday 9th March 2024, the traditional grappling tournament TATAMY 8 took place in the premises of the Faculty of Sports Studies of Masaryk University in Brno, one of the highlights of which was the women's GALA. However, there was also competition in the OPEN tournament and we bring you a summary of the medalists from the PRO category.

In the lightest category, there were mainly two names, mainly two names that dominated. One of them was Austrian black belt Daniel Krennhuber, the other was Czech black belt Radek Mitrega. The two met each other in the final, which Krennhuber won 9:2 on points.

This category had a relatively clear winner, namely the twenty-seven-year-old purple belt Jakub Houra, who scored three of his five victories by submission. Daniel Čučvar also made his debut in the PRO category, finishing in second place.

In -77 there was traditionally nothing to talk about. Petr Mynář claimed an incredible sixth consecutive victory in this weight category and since the TATAMY 3 tournament he has not found anyone to dethrone him. He ended all his matches before the limit. The German David Schütz finished in second place, and Tadeáš Wittassek from Opava came in third.

As always, one of the most charged categories, which was dominated by the SWAG duo Jan Stach and Marek Hromádka. Both had four wins in the group, of which they ended all before the limit and met in the final. The final fight offered a wonderful match, where Honza finally won the match on a negative point, which Marek received for a guard pull. In the fight for bronze, Patryk Bocianowski quickly finished off Michal Trávníček with a straight ankle lock.

This category had a great cast. For example, Anton Orlov and participants in the Combat Jiu Jitsu Superfight Lukáš Pavelka and Richard Adámek fought in it. You could also find here both captains from TATAMY Teams Czech Republic vs. Austria, Antonio Stanice and Jan Stacha. Anton Orlov did the best here, who defeated both Stach and Stanice in the elimination fights and dominated this division.

The category had only two participants, where Mateusz Chamny won, who had a 2:1 head-to-head match with Jan Musil.

There were four participants in the hardest category, where everyone wrestled with everyone. The division was dominated by the German Jonas Maxein, who ended two of the three matches won by submission.

Three participants, each of whom scored one win from two matches. In the end, Ema Sehnalová dominated the division for a better mutual match.

The category in which all participants of the GALA tournament presented themselves. As expected, the winner and previous GALA Injana Goodman did the best here, finishing three of the five matches before the limit.

The lightest category in kimono was dominated by the bright purple belt Marek Raška, who claimed three victories. An interesting fact is that a year ago, at the TATAMY 4 tournament, he still wrestled as a blue belt.

The most occupied category in kimono, where there were seven wrestlers. Slovak black belt Michal Kukumberg clearly dominated the group with four wins. In the finals, Kukumberg faced off against Pretorian Michal Novák, who beat him 3-7 on points.
