On Saturday, March 9, 2024, the traditional TATAMY 8 grappling tournament took place on the premises of the Faculty of Sports Studies of Masaryk University in Brno.

One of the highlights of this event was the women's GALA in the -65 kg category, which featured wrestlers from various countries, including Poland, Great Britain, Greece, and of course the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

For those who could not be present in the hall, the entire GALA tournament is available on YouTube on the TATAMY BJJ channel.

Among the participants of the women's GALA, two names stood out in particular, namely Martyna Kapuścińska from Poland and Injana Goodman from Great Britain, who faced each other in the final. Kapuścińska made it to the finals with two armbar finishes and a points win in the semifinals. Goodman reached the finals with three finishes, the first two of which were by armbar and the third in the semifinals was a rear naked choke.

Among the Czechoslovak representatives, Zdeňka Chmelařová from SWAG Brno made it the most in the pyramid, reaching the semi-finals. In the quarterfinals, she even defeated one of the favorites, Julia Mikołajczak, who she finished in overtime with an armbar. In the semi-finals, she lost to the winner of the tournament, Injana Goodman. Veronika Bočková, Zuzana Kroulíková and Linda Stach also managed the eight-final match in Czechoslovak colors.

Two superfights also took place at the GALA tournament. In the first match, a kimono match, brown belts František Lukeš from the Prague Choketopus Gym and Jiří Smiga from the Draculino team met. The duel offered an even fight, which Lukeš ended in the middle of the match with a quick triangle from the bottom position.

The second superfight was in Combat Jiu-Jitsu between Lukáš Pavelka and Richard Adámek. The match started at a high wrestling pace, but after about a minute and a half, Adámek managed to get Pavelka to the ground, where he began to shower him with blows from the mount. But Pavelka was able to defend himself, overturned the position and the match returned to the stance. Towards the end of the match, Adámek took Pavelka to the ground with an ankle pick, but Pavelka quickly reversed the position and started to launch a mass of punches. In the end, the match did not end before the time limit and an extra time followed, where Richard Adámek, the representative of Draculino Ostrava, finally won for a faster escape from the back.
